From Angus: This is one of my favourite Jojo songs. You've got the verse mostly right, BUT! Please, please, please note the change from G to Gm when he sings "On the fenway, where I've dreamed my dreams". He doesn't do it in the 1st verse, but every verse afterwards he does, and I think it's what makes this song so heartbreakingly beautiful (especially The demo version, if you've heard that). I love that chord change. The chorus (of sorts) when he sings "sometimes it rains..." is correct in your version, so I didn't add it. D Now I was born by the Fenway in Beth Israel Hospital G F#m G A Could that help to explain why I love the Fenway so well D Bm Nowhere do I feel more at home, it seems, G A Then on the Fenway, where I dreamed my dreams D Well I was small, they took us to old Mechanics Hall G F#m We got to see the mighty Ted Williams, G A Put one over the right field wall D Bm All that nostalgia comes out every day, you see, G Gm D On the Fenway where I've dreamed dreams
Now I was [D] born by the Fenway in Beth Israel Hospital
Could that [G] help to explain [F#m] why I love the [G] Fenway so [A] well
Nowhere do [Bm] I feel more at home, it [F#m] seems,
Then on the [G] Fenway, where I dreamed my [A] dreams
Well I was [D] small, they took us to old Mechanics Hall
We got to [G] see the mighty Ted [F#m] Williams,
Put one [G] over the right field [A] wall
All that [Bm] nostalgia comes out every day, you [F#m] see,
On the [G] Fenway where I've dreamed [D] dreams
Sometimes it [A] rains, and then it is [G] just damp and [D] cold
Sometimes I've [A] roamed, its little [G] paths when I've felt [D] old
Now smell the [A] air, and you'll smell [G] exhaust fumes every[D]where
Cause the [G] place is just too narrow not to be [A] bothered by them there
But there's [D] silence to the place when you stand there in the sun
And there's an [G] echo from an [F#m] era that's al[G]ready past and [A] gone
And there is [Bm] silence in the Gardner [F#m] Museum
Where's that?
It's on the [G] Fenway where I've dreamed my [D] dreams
[D] Well after all, clap your hands
[G][F#m][G][A]
[Bm][F#m][G][D]
And there's a [D] silence to that place
as you stand there in the sun
and there's also this [G] haunting silent [F#m] sorrow,
Cause the [G] glory days have [A] gone
And there is [Bm] silence in the Gardner [F#m] Museum
Where's that?
Well, it's on the [G] Fenway, as you know, where I've dreamed my [A] dreams
Boston's [G] Fenway, where I've dreamed my [D] dreams
Now I was born by the Fenway in Beth Israel Hospital
Could that help to explain why I love the Fenway so well
Nowhere do I feel more at home, it seems,
Then on the Fenway, where I dreamed my dreams
Well I was small, they took us to old Mechanics Hall
We got to see the mighty Ted Williams,
Put one over the right field wall
All that nostalgia comes out every day, you see,
On the Fenway where I've dreamed dreams
Sometimes it rains, and then it is just damp and cold
Sometimes I've roamed, its little paths when I've felt old
Now smell the air, and you'll smell exhaust fumes everywhere
Cause the place is just too narrow not to be bothered by them there
But there's silence to the place when you stand there in the sun
And there's an echo from an era that's already past and gone
And there is silence in the Gardner Museum
Where's that?
It's on the Fenway where I've dreamed my dreams
Well after all, clap your hands
And there's a silence to that place
As you stand there in the sun
And there's also this haunting silent sorrow,
Cause the glory days have gone
And there is silence in the Gardner Museum
Where's that?
Well, it's on the Fenway, as you know, where I've dreamed my dreams
Boston's Fenway, where I've dreamed my dreams
I love this sad world
Audience, I love this sad world
Audience, I love this sad world
Well I was born by the Fenway in Beth Israel Hospital
Could that help to explain why I love the Fenway so well
Nowhere do I feel more at home, it seems,
Then on the Boston's Fenway, where I've dreamed my dreams
When me and my younger brother were small, the parents took us to old Mechanics Hall
When me and my younger brother were small, Boston was another town then
It was a post world war two town then, When me and my younger brother were small
Near the Gardner museum on the Fenway
Stands the museum of fine arts on the Fenway
There's the old 1880s bridge
The Fenway was designed as an 1880s type of garden
And there's silence to the place as you stand there in the winter afternoon sun in Boston
And there's this haunting silent sorrow cause its glory days are long gone
And there is silence in the Gardner Museum
That's on the Fenway where I've dreamed my dreams
Boston's Fenway, where I've dreamed my dreams
Well I was born by the Fenway in Beth Israel Hospital
Could that help to explain why I love the Fenway so well
Nowhere do I feel more at home, it seems,
Then on the Fenway, where I dreamed my dreams
Well I was small, we'd go to old Mechanics Hall
And we got to see the mighty Ted Williams,
Hit one over the right field wall
Old man nostalgia comes out every day, it seems,
On the Fenway where I've dreamed my dreams
Sometimes it rains there, and then it is just plain damp and cold
Sometimes I've roamed, its little paths when I've felt old
Now smell the air, and you'll smell exhaust fumes everywhere
Because the Fenway is just too narrow not to be bothered by them there
But there's a silence to the place as you stand there in the sun
And there's an ancient haunting sorrow cause its glory days have gone
And there is silence in the Gardner Museum
On the Fenway where I've dreamed my dreams
And there's a silence to the place
As you stand there in the sun
And an echo from an era that's already past and gone
And there is silence in the Gardner Museum
That's on the Fenway, where I've dreamed my dreams
Boston's Fenway, where I've dreamed my dreams
2, 3, 4
2, 3, 4
See I, I told you I'd do it great that time
Well I was born by the Fenway
In Beth Israel Hospital
Could that help to explain why
I love the Fenway so well
No where do I feel more at home it seems
Then on the Fenway where I've dreamed my dreams
When I was small, we'd go to old Mechanics Hall
And I also saw Ted Williams put one over the right field wall
Old man nostalgia comes out every day it seems
On the Fenway where I dreamed my dreams
Sometimes it rains and then it's just plain damp and cold
Sometimes I roam its little paths when I've felt old
Now smell the air, and you smell exhaust fumes everywhere
Cause the Fenway is just too narrow not to be bothered by them there
But there's a silence to the place as you stand there in the sun
And there's an echo from an era that's already past and gone
And there is silence in the Gardner Museum
It's on the Fenway where I've dreamed my dreams
All right
All right
Some dreams are cold and hungry
But no dreams have been killed
Some dreams would be too young
But though then [???] fulfilled
Nostalgia he comes out everyday it seems
On the Fenway where I dreamed my dreams
The magic tragic Fenway where I've dreamed my dreams
2, 3, 4
Yeah
Well I was born by the Fenway in Beth Israel Hospital
Could that help to explain why I love the Fenway so well?
Nowhere do I feel more at home, it seems,
Then on the magic Fenway, where I dreamed my dreams
When I was small, we'd go to old Mechanics Hall
And I also saw mighty Ted Williams
Hit one over the right field wall
And oh man nostalgia comes out every day it seems
On the Fenway where I've dreamed my dreams
Sometimes it rains, and then it is just plain damp and cold
Sometimes I've roamed, its little paths when I've felt old
Now you smell the air, and you'll smell exhaust fumes everywhere
Why?
Cause the Fenway is simply too narrow not to be bothered by them there
But there's a silence to the place as you stand there in the sun
And there's an echo from an era that's already past and gone
And there is silence in the Gardner Museum
(Where's that?)
Well
It's on the Fenway where you know I've dreamed my dreams
Well some dreams are cold you know
And hungry
But no dreams have been killed
But some dreams I guess are just too young yet
But some have been fulfilled
And old man nostalgia he comes out everyday it seems
On the magic Fenway
Where you know
I've dreamed my dreams
The magic magic Fenway
Where I've dreamed my dreams
[One more]
I was born by the Fenway in Beth Israel Hospital
Could that help to explain why I love the Fenway so well
Nowhere do I feel more at home, it seems,
Then on the Fenway, where I dreamed my dreams
Well I was small, we'd go to the old Mechanics Hall
And I also saw mighty Ted Williams,
Hit one over the right field wall
Old man nostalgia comes out every day, it seems,
On the mighty Fenway where I've dreamed my dreams
Sometimes it rains, and then it's just plain damp and cold
Sometimes I've roamed, its little paths when I've felt old
Now you smell the air, and you'll smell exhaust fumes everywhere
Because the Fenway is just too narrow not to be bothered by them there
But there's a silence to the place as you stand there in the sun
And there's an echo from an era that's already dead and gone
And there is silence in the Gardner Museum
Where's that?
Well that's on the magic Fenway where I've dreamed my dreams
Some dreams are cold and hungry but no dreams have been killed
Some dreams are still too young yet but some have been fulfilled
And old man nostalgia comes out every day it seems
On the mighty Fenway where I dreamed my dreams
The magic tragic Fenway where I dreamed my dreams
[That's the last one for you angels]
Well I was born by the Fenway in Beth Israel Hospital
Could that help to explain why I love that Fenway so well
Nowhere do I feel more at home, it seems,
Then on the Fenway, where I've dreamed my dreams
You know I was just small, they took us to old Mechanics Hall
And I also got to see the mighty Ted Williams,
Hit one over the right field wall
Old man nostalgia comes out every day, you see,
On this magic Fenway where I've dreamed my dreams
Now sometimes it rains, and then it is just plain damp and cold
Sometimes I've roamed, those little paths you know when I've felt old
Now smell the air, and you'll smell exhaust fumes everywhere
Why? Cause the Fenway is just too narrow not to be bothered by them there
But there's this silence to the place when you just stand there in the sun
And there's an echo from an era that's already past and gone
And there is silence in the Gardner Museum
It's on the Fenway where I've dreamed my dreams
Guitar
Now some dreams are cold still
And hungry still but no dreams have been killed
Some dreams but be too young
But some have been fulfilled
And old man nostalgia out every day it seems
On this ancient Fenway
Where I've dreamed my dreams
I'm talking about this magic place
The Fenway
Where I've dreamed my dreams
[Same location, different song,
10 years apart but the location is the same]
[[He had just done 'Girlfren', another song about the Fenway and here is one he wrote 10 years later]]
Well I was born by the Fenway in Beth Israel Hospital
Could that help to explain why I love the Fenway so well?
Nowhere do I feel more at home, it seems,
Then on the ancient Fenway, where I dreamed my dreams
When I was small, we'd go to the old Mechanics Hall
And I also saw mighty Ted Williams,
Hit one over the right field wall
All that nostalgia comes out every day, you see,
On the ancient Fenway where I've dreamed my dreams
Sometimes it rains, and then it is just plain damp and cold
Sometimes I've roamed, its little paths when I've felt old
Now smell the air, and you'll smell exhaust fumes everywhere
Cause the place is simply too narrow not to be bothered by them there
But there's silence to the place as you stand there in the sun
And there's an echo from an era that's already dead and gone
And there is silence in the Gardner Museum
Where's that?
It's on the magic Fenway where I've dreamed my dreams
Where I've dreamed my dreams
Well you know folks
Some dreams are still cold and crumbling
But no dreams have ever been killed
Some dreams haven't turned out yet
But some of them have been already fulfilled
And old man nostalgia comes out every day it seems
On the ancient Fenway where I've dreamed my dreams
As you know
The magic Fenway
Where I've dreamed my dreams
[[I think he says at the end that he saw the last home run Ted Williams hit but it's hard to make out. That was in 1960 when Jonathan would have been nine]]
Well I was born by the Fenway in Beth Israel Hospital
Would that help to explain why I love the Fenway so well
Nowhere do I feel more at home, it seems,
Then on the ancient Fenway, where I dreamed my dreams
Sometimes it rains, and then it is just plain damp and cold
[Oh I should do this verse first]
When I was small, we'd to the old Mechanics Hall
And I also saw Ted Williams,
Hit one over the right field wall
Old man nostalgia comes out every day, it seems
On the ancient Fenway where I've dreamed my dreams
And sometimes it rains, and then it is just plain damp and cold
Sometimes I've roamed, its little paths when I've felt old
You smell the air, and you'll smell exhaust fumes everywhere
Cause the Fenway is just too narrow not to be bothered by them there
But there's silence to that place as you stand there in the sun
And there's an echo from an era that's already been and gone
And there is silence in the Gardner Museum
Where's that?
It's on the magic Fenway where I've dreamed my dreams
Some dreams are cold
And some dreams are ??? too
Some dreams are simply too ???
But some ???
Old man nostalgia comes out every day, it seems
On the ancient Fenway where ??? you know I've dreamed my dreams
On the Fenway where I've dreamed my dreams
[Fenway ???
We got any baseball fans out there?]
[I'm going to tell you about when I was born ???
This is about as true as you can get ???]
Well I was born by the Fenway in Beth Israel Hospital
Could that help to explain why I love the Fenway so well
Nowhere do I feel more at home, it seems,
Then on Boston's Fenway, where I dreamed my dreams
Well I was small, my parents took us to old Mechanics Hall
And I got to see mighty Ted Williams,
Put one over the right field wall
All that nostalgia comes out every day, you see,
On the Fenway where I've dreamed my dreams
Sometimes it rains there, and then it is just plain damp and cold
Sometimes I've roamed, its little paths when I've felt all old
Now smell the air, and you'll smell exhaust fumes everywhere
But the Fenway is simply too narrow not to be bothered by them there
But there's a silence in that place when you stand there in the sun
And there's an echo from an era that's already past and gone
And there is silence in the Gardner Museum
(Where's that?)
Well, I'm glad you asked
It's on the Fenway where I've dreamed my dreams
Some dreams are cold still
But no dreams have been killed
[[Off mic - or maybe he lost his place?]] fulfilled
And old man nostalgia comes out everyday it seems
On this place, The Fenway, whereas you know I've still got to dream my dreams
The magic tragic Fenway where I've dreamed my dreams
[Let's do that ending]
[Well, sometimes I'm confused I live in sort of a rural area now
But I like city stuff too
When we sing a song like we just did "new kind of neighbourhood" see I want both I like it when you got community right
You got action
You have a place to hang out late at night
But those cities, I grew up outside of Boston you see why did I leave?
I'll say for me, I'm not even
Going to try to put the place down for me it really is just, there was a beauty to the place I thought, years ago but for me it's just gotten, the character is kind of like, we got a song now that tells about how I feel and it's called the Fenway
I was born there
There is a hospital there so
When I say I was born by the Fenway in this hospital, I was
It's true
So that's what this song, this song isn't supposed to be like just like you know a period piece or anything
This really tells you how I feel]
Well I was born by the Fenway, in Beth Israel Hospital
Could that help to explain why I love the Fenway so well?
Nowhere do I feel more at home it seems
Then on the Fenway where I dreamed my dreams
When I was small, my parents took me and my brother to old mechanics hall
And we got to see the mighty Ted Williams put one over the centre field wall
Oh man nostalgia comes out every day it seems
On this place, the Fenway where I dreamed my dreams
Okay, sometimes it's grey there, and then it's like an airplane just damp and cold
Sometimes I used to roam the little paths when in my heart I felt all old
I smelled the air, ??? nowadays would just smell exhaust fumes everywhere
You know why? Because the park was made in the 1890s It's just too narrow not to be bothered by things like that there
But still, to this very day, there is still this silence to the place as you stand there in the sun
You can hear the echo from an era that is long gone
And there is silence in the Gardner Museum
It's on the Fenway where I've dreamed my dreams
There's a silence to the place
As you stand there in the sun
And folks there's this haunting silent sorrow too,
Because it's glory days you could see that they have gone
And there is silence in the Gardner Museum
Where's that? I'll tell you
It's on the Fenway, where I've dreamed my dreams
The magic Fenway, where I've dreamed my dreams
[Let's do one about Boston
I'm more sentimental than that right now
It's up to you to figure out how much is the ??? part
??? Funny
And I think I'm out of tune
Excuse me a sec
We're going to celebrate by tuning
You'll like this
Which one is right?
Oh that's nice
???
Well, you're quiet cause we're great or cause you're bored, what's cooking?
???
Yes
We're going to stay right here for you
Wait a second
If I don't tune this thing now you're going to be way sorry later
Maybe you won't
Ok
Good, can you tell me how you tune it then?
??? Active part ???
That's not bad]
Well I was born by the Fenway in Beth Israel Hospital
Could that help to maybe explain why I love the Fenway so well
Nowhere do I feel more at home, it seems,
Then on Boston's Fenway, where I dreamed my dreams
When me and my younger brother were just small, my parents took us to old Mechanics Hall
And we got to see the mighty Ted Williams,
Put one over the right field wall
Old man nostalgia comes out every day, you see,
On the Fenway where I've dreamed my dreams
Look folks
Sometimes it's cold there, and then it's plain damp and plain cold
Sometimes I've roamed, its little paths, you know whenever we were there when I've felt old
Now smell the air, and you'll just smell more exhaust fumes everywhere
Cause the Fenway is just too narrow not to be bothered by them there
But there's this silence to the place when you stand there in the sun
And there's an echo of an era that's long past and gone
And there is silence in the Gardner Museum
Where's that Jonathan?
It's on the Fenway where I've dreamed my dreams
And there's this silence to the place
When you just stand there in the sun
And there's a haunting silent sorrow,
You see, cause the glory days have gone
And there is silence in the Gardner Museum
Jonathan, where's that?
It's on the Fenway, where I've dreamed my dreams
Boston's magic Fenway, where I've dreamed my dreams
Well I was born by the Fenway in Beth Israel Hospital
Could that help to explain why I love the Fenway so well
Nowhere do I feel more at home, it seems,
Then on the Fenway, where I dreamed my dreams
Well I was small, we'd go to old Mechanics Hall
And we got to see the mighty Ted Williams,
Hit one over the right field wall
Oh man nostalgia comes out every day it seems
On the Fenway where I've dreamed my dreams
Well I was born by the Fenway in Beth Israel Hospital
Could that help to explain why I love the Fenway so well
Nowhere do I feel more at home, it seems,
Then on the Fenway, where I dreamed my dreams
Sometime I
When I was small, we'd go to old Mechanics Hall
And we got to see the mighty Ted Williams,
Put one over the right field wall
Old man nostalgia comes out every day, it seems,
On the Fenway where I've dreamed my dreams
Sometimes it rains, and then it is just plain damp and cold
Sometimes I've roamed, its little paths when I've felt old
Now smell the air, and you just smell exhaust fumes everywhere
Cause the Fenway is just too narrow not to be bothered by them there
But there's a silence to the place as you stand there in the sun
And there's this echo from an era that's long long gone
And there's silence in the Gardner Museum
It's on the Fenway where I've dreamed my dreams
And there's a silence to that place
As you stand there in the sun
And there's this haunting kind of sorrow,
Cause it's glory days have gone
And there is silence in the Gardner Museum
It's on the Fenway, where I've dreamed my dreams
Boston's Fenway, where I've dreamed my dreams
