When I was there I was about ten and my younger brother was eight
My parents took us for the first time to New York
One day
It was a different world back then
New York isn't like what it is now
I grew up in Boston
I grew up in the suburbs
So
When we checked in, in that hotel
It was too late at night to see anything
Just went to sleep
And when
I woke up in that hotel
Cause the taxi horns woke me up
I pulled the curtains back
And saw the world outside
I'd say
Hey mom and dad
That's the thing
This is the kind of thing I've been trying to tell ya
I knew it had to be there somewhere
